HOW
TO REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE
#1.
At your Town Clerk's office, present your vehicle's title with proof
of
payment of NH resident tax ($10/adult-not #required in all towns) and
previous
year's registration.
#2.
Registration certificate is prepared by Town Clerk with payment of auto
tax based on vehicle's valuation and year of manufacture.
#3.
You will then send the registration certificate to the NH Division of Motor
Vehicles in Concord, or take it to one of the local NHMV offices, with
payment to the state, of auto tax based on weight of vehicle.
Registration
is valid for 1 year and expires on the last day of the month of owner's
birthday. (Some tax collectors serve as municipal agents for the state
and can issue vehicle renewal decals.)
MOTOR
VEHICLE INSPECTION:
Each
vehicle must be inspected yearly at an authorized inspection station (usually
at an auto dealer or service station), within 10 days after registration
or renewal of registration.
MOTOR
VEHICLE INSURANCE: Not mandatory in NH.
DRIVERS
LICENSES: ($32 for a four year license)
New
drivers or residents may report to local motor vehicle offices in either
Keene (Mon thru Wed) or Milford (Thur thru Fri) for payment, testing and
photograph.
