[17-Apr-2008] Actors' Circle Theatre - Actors' Circle Theatre presents "Peter Pan" with local talent!
Actors' Circle Theatre (ACT), Peterborough's award-winning community theatre troupe, will present the musical, "Peter Pan" May 2nd - 10th. The show is filled with favorite characters of the young and old, including the evil Captain Hook, the jealous Tinker Bell, hordes of Lost Boys, Indians, Pirates, and - of course - the incorrigible, irrepressible Peter Pan! The production showcases local talent of all ages from the Monadnock Region and beyond!
THE SCRIPT:
"Peter Pan" is the popular musical based on James M. Berries' play. It's a fantastic story of Wendy, John & Michael Darlings' adventure away from their (stern) life at home. Wendy, the eldest sister, often tells stories to her brothers before bedtime. Little did they know those stories would soon spring to life with a visit from Peter Pan. Peter takes the Darlings on an adventure they will never forget as they join the Lost Boys and help fight the sinister Captain Hook and his band of Pirates. The show is directed by NH Theatre Award Winner Wendy Almeida, with musical direction by Meegan Gagnon and choreography by Jenn Skinner.
THE TALENT:
Actors' Circle Theatre has called together some of the finest talent in the region to help create this masterpiece of imagination and wonder, including:
Ashley Huges (Peter Pan): "I am very excited to be a part of ACT and to have so much fun working on this production." Ashley Hughes smiled during a rehearsal. Ashley is a new member of Actors' Circle Theatre and is thrilled to be playing the title role of Peter Pan. Ashley went to Wheaton College in Norton, MA where she earned a scholarship for both vocal and music departments and earned a B.A. in Theatre Studies. She has performed around NH and played roles such as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" and Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. "I had always wanted to play the role of Peter Pan. The character's attitude is laid back, care-free, fun – all the things we wish we could always be."
Don Wilmeth (Captain Hook): "Peter Pan was the first stage play I ever saw, presented by the famous Claire Tree Majors company in the 1940's in Texas," remembered the austere Don Wilmeth, while polishing his hook. Wilmeth, who recently moved to the area, served as a theatre professor for over 40 years - most of them at Brown University where he directed over 40 major productions and chaired the theatre program for 16 years. He is a theatre historian, writer and editor and has been responsible for over 50 books on various aspects of theatre, most recently the expanded edition of THE CAMBRIDGE GUIDE TO AMERICAN THEATRE. When this celebrated theatre artist heard about the production, he "could not ignore" the temptation to take on the villanious role of Captain Hook. "I have been teaching and directing theatre for many years - it is nice to be back on stage again." He was recently seen on stage paying Buffalo Bill in the Keene Lion's Club production of "Annie Get Your Gun". "I am excited to be working with ACT on this show. It has been a great experience!"
Jennifer Stanley (Tiger Lily): "This will be my first performance with Actors' Circle Theatre." Jennifer Stanley proudly stated during a rehearsal. She has been performing since she was 11 years old. She has been competing in gymnastics for 15 years and has been signing for over 7 years. "I was excited to be able to use my talents for the role of Tiger Lily. I get to dance and sing and even do some gymnastics!"
THE PRODUCTION:
"Peter Pan" will be performed at the Peterborough Players' Theatre, located on 55 Hadley Street in Peterborough. The production runs Friday May 2nd-3th and Thursday May 8th-10th at 8:00pm with a matinee on Sunday May 4th and Saturday May 10th at 2:00pm. Tickets for "Peter Pan" are $10 for general admission, $5 for children 12-yrs & under and $27.00 for families of 4 or more! @Web Site Publicity Search Marketing Partners with Blogging Expert to Provide Expanded Services for Clients
Corporate Blogging Pioneer Christine Halvorson will design and manage blogs to increase site traffic and engage visitors for client sites
PETERBOROUGH, NH - Search engine marketing firm @Web Site Publicity announced today its Internet public relations services now include corporate blog consulting and management services to drive even more qualified traffic to client websites. Christine Halvorson, the chief blogger for Stonyfield Farm and owner of the consulting firm Halvorson New Media, is partnering with @Web Site Publicity in this effort.
“Blogging is a proven public relations technique and is highly complementary to search engine marketing,” said @Web Site Publicity president Susan O’Neil. “With Christine’s assistance we will help clients integrate the best of both techniques for far greater exposure via the Internet.”
O'Neil explained that the tie-in between search engine marketing and blogging is multi-faceted. “Successful blogging is the creation of great web content that satisfies the needs and interests of site visitors, while also supplying search engines with more reason to list the website hosting the blog in the search returns.” Also, blog content is frequently updated and can draw incoming links from related web sites, both of which are considered by search engines in their ranking formulas, O’Neil said. “The result is more exposure for the company’s website and more opportunity to develop new customers.
Blogger Christine Halvorson agreed. “The best blogs let corporations and organizations share their message through content that is not geared to push sales, but to invite engagement that will build relationships. By keeping the blog content lively, timely and with an authentic voice, the host website earns repeat visitors.”
@Web Site Publicity was founded in Peterborough, NH, in 1998 and serves both small businesses and leading brands, such as Crane Paper Company, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Yankee Candle Company. O'Neil is the co-author of Maximize Web Site Traffic, one of the first "how to" books on search engine optimization.
