This October, everyone can join in a creative celebration of non-profits. Last year, Robin Eichert, founder of PeopleSense Consulting in Jaffrey, started this annual event when she celebrated her dog Grace’s birthday in a very special way. Grace is no ordinary dog. When she was just a pup, she was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico by a non-profit. To honor the spirit of generosity and kindness that saved Grace, Eichert launched something called the Graceful Giving Campaign. The campaign takes place throughout the month of October, Grace’s birthday month. But instead of gifts for Grace, donors contribute any amount to show their appreciation and support for the many non-profits that are doing valuable work in our communities. “Grace’s story of overcoming challenges illustrates that we all have the potential to be extraordinary with a little help from those who love and support us,” Eichert said. Six non-profits are participating in this year’s campaign, and each has chosen a specific item from their wish list for which to raise funds. For example, Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities will be raising money to purchase a hand-held capnograph, a non-invasive device that can tell if a child is breathing effectively, which is especially important when weaning from a ventilator. Other examples of wish list items include scholarship funding and an educational activity bench. All are listed on PeopleSenseConsulting.com/gracefulgiving2017. In addition to Cedarcrest, Arts Alive!, Community Volunteer Transportation Company (CVTC), Keene YMCA, Monadnock Humane Society (MHS), and New Hampshire Coalition to End Homelessness (NHCEH) will also be participating. At the end of October, the non-profit with the largest number of unique donors will win the GRAND PRIZE—an exclusive, half-day team-building workshop entitled Graceful Leadership: Building Respectful Relationships. The workshop, which Includes ‘Everything DiSC Workplace Profile’ assessments and facilitation by Eichert, is valued at $1800. Margaret Nelson, Executive Director of last year’s winning non-profit, the River Center in Peterborough, said, “It is so worthwhile to have this information and to have your staff have it so they can work better as a team and go forward.” One lucky donor who participates in Graceful Giving will also be chosen at random to win $100 in cash! Though the prizes are exciting, the most important part of the campaign is that everyone wins by connecting with and expanding their communities.
