When clearing fields for agriculture, early farmers used a variety of methods to dispose of glacial till. The French Road area in Lyndeborough provides examples of these methods, from the primitive to the sublime. Join Dave Butler and Ben Haubrich for a moderately strenuous, 2.5-mile exploration of the area. Wear waterproof footwear and dress for ticks, and meet at 1 p.m. on Russell Station Road at the turnout on the Greenfield/Francestown town line. The turnout is 0.4 miles east of the junction with East Road in Greenfield, and 3 miles west of the Francestown Turnpike in Francestown. Back by 3:30 p.m. Co-sponsored with the Piscataquog Land Conservancy. For more information, contact Dave or Ben.
