    Date: August 24, 2018
    Time: 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Electric Earth Concerts proudly presents The Borromeo String Quartet on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Town House in Peterborough, NH. The always-revelatory Borromeo Quartet brings its powerful magic to Electric Earth, with Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue, K. 546, Ned Rorem’s Quartet No. 3 & César Franck’s seldom-heard String Quartet. Winner of the 2007 Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Borromeo Quartet continues to build upon its adventurous 23-year career of pushing musical, intellectual, and technical boundaries. In 2008, the Borromeo Quartet became the first string quartet in the world to perform on stage using MacBook Pro laptops instead of traditional paper sheet music. This is not a gimmick-- it was done so that they could read from full 4-part scores instead of their individual parts, which would be nearly impossible to do otherwise. "The digital tide washing over society is lapping at the shores of classical music. The Borromeo players have embraced it in their daily musical lives like no other major chamber music group.” – New York Times "To hear and see them perform has always felt to me like taking a private tour through a composer's mind. They probe and analyze from every angle until they discover how to best unveil the psychological, physical, and spiritual states that a great piece of music evokes. They’re champions of new music … but they also thrive on making the old classics sound vital and fresh." – Cathy Fuller, Host of WGBH Classical New England, NPR "I don’t think my ears are accustomed to the detailed musicianship that the Borromeos brought to the table. This performance could well fall under the discipline of eschatology — the metaphorical "end of ordinary reality and reunion with the Divine.” --San Diego Reader This concert is generously sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary in Peterborough. General admission is $25. Middle and high school students may attend for free. For more information, contact us at: joan.electricearth.org or 603.499.6216.
