Robert
Collier
Robert
Collier of Rindge, New Hampshire, has been an active painter since 1976,
having begun his studies with Richard Whitney of Stoddard. His impressionistic
views of his native New Hampshire are bold, rich, yet soft and fresh -
as vibrant as the land itself. Since 1987, he has favored pastel
as his medium, having worked with Herman Margulies, former director of
the Pastel Society of America. He states that pastel offers greater
expressiveness for his works.
His
favorite subject has been Mount Monadnock, of which he has made thirty
paintings this year alone. His works are highly acclaimed, having
been requested by the NH State Capitol, NH Embassy in Belize, Trust for
NH Lands, Cedar Crest, and others who appreciate his artistic translation
of the essence of New Hampshire environs.
Recipient
of the Marie Hickey Memorial Award, Jurors Choice award from the Copley
Society of Boston, Phyllis Roland Award from the CT Pastel Society amongst
others, he is a member of the Sharon Arts Center, Keene Art Association,
and the Academic Artist Association (Springfield, MA).
